On Tuesday 24th April You Can Community Club hosted the first of its in house specialist training opportunities with the delivery of ‘Handling Conflict Well’ a conflict resolution in a youth setting training course for individuals working in a young people environment.
This one day course was designed by the facilitators as a participatory training event which incorporated games, activities and materials that could be used in the future with young people, as well as opportunities for attendees to share and reflect.
The course included the following elements;
- Exploring the elements of conflict
- Understanding our minds when in conflict
- Princliples and techiques of restorative Approaches
- Establishing a simple restorative Culture; looking at repair when things go wrong and exploring obstacles.
The course was well attended with 20 participants who gave some positive feedback;
” It was a great session, very accessible and easy to follow”
“Great, well facilitated, clear and precise”
There was a general consensus that there is a need for further specialist training opportunities around the working with young people sector with specific reference to SEN. Attendees indicated very high positive scores in their feedback in terms of You Can’s organisational processes, with excellent communications, and a very easy booking process. The majority found the training relevant to their needs and would recommend You Can arranged training opportunities to others!
We are currently looking into hosting further similar opportunities so watch this space!
