The You Can Easter Holiday Programme consisted of lots of fun activities and day trips and provided opportunities to increase activity levels, make new friends, be creative, increase independence and learn new skills. They consisted of a variety of sessions like quad biking, fishing, arts, street dance, paintballing, sports, canal boat trip, theme parks, walking, water sports, fishing, wheelchair sports and volunteering projects.
Over the 2 week period there were 248 places up for grabs on the range of activities we had planned, 160 of these places were filled and 31 volunteering opportunities were made available. 52 people at random were asked to rate their experience on the trips they attended. 51 of these rated the activity as enjoyable and 1 rated it as ok, however they stated “It was really good until it started to rain”.
Here is what some people said when asked what their favourite part of their day was;
Volunteering Project – “Picking up the rubbish to save our world!!!”
Arts and Drama – “Making puppets and playing games, making new friends”
Fishing – “Working as a team and catching my first fish!”
Canal Boat Trip – “Steering the boat, relaxing on the boat and the museum we visited”
We have our annual open day coming up on 4th July where we will be showcasing lots of activities available to young people aged 11-24 years and their families and friends. This is a great opportunity to introduce new people to You Can Community Club and also existing members to celebrate and have some fun. There will also be sports tournaments, cakes and an opportunity to camp over night! More information coming soon……….
